December 2009 Newsletter

Dear Members and Patrons of the Arts:

HO, HO, HO --- your merry ol' presidential Santa sends out a very early Christmas greeting, with sincere wishes for a Joyous Season to each and every one of you fine artist friends!! And what better way to start that season is there than to attend the Fairborn Art Association's meeting on Tuesday evening, December 1, 2009? The meeting proper starts at 7:00 pm as usual; but plan to arrive early to shop all the goodies that will be there from our creative and skillful fellow artists. It's a good way to acquire presents and decorations at a great price! And don't forget to bring a favorite holiday dish for our bountiful and festive table, as well as an exchange gift for under our tree. This program is always a warm and friendly occasion, and you will certainly want to be with us. I am looking forward to seeing you there!
Jim McCoy,
President

LET'S HAVE A PARTY

All members and guests are invited to our festive Christmas party, Tuesday, Dec. 1, which begins at 7:00 pm. Each member should bring a finger food/snack to share and a gift-wrapped ornament or Christmas item (value - approximately $8–$10) for the lively ornament exchange. Dress is festive-casual. There will be lots of delicious snacks, refreshments and fun. Come early and shop the beautiful Christmas Gallery from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm!

HOLIDAY FINE ART & CRAFT SALE

Fairborn Art Association members will again have the opportunity to have their artwork and handicrafts displayed in the Gallery for sale the first two weekends in December. The Holiday Fine Art & Craft Sale will have a Grand Opening and sale for all members and guests in the F.A.A. Gallery on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. before the Christmas party. Then the Holiday Fine Art & Craft Sale will be open on two weekends, Dec. 5 & 6, and 12 & 13. The Gallery will be open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00–4:00 p.m. If you haven’t signed up yet to participate, please call Jane Trame, 937-902-8875. We plan to set up the art racks and decorate the Holiday Gallery with your help on Monday, November 23 from 9:00–11:00 a.m. Please sign up to help decorate and arrange the room. Members may then bring in their priced Holiday arts and crafts with inventory sheets that same Monday, Nov. 23 from 12:00 Noon–3:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 27 from 10:00–12:00 Noon, or by special appointment. This year each participating artist member will be assigned a number which must be included on each price tag. Each member may bring two large paintings (18 X 24 or larger, up to 30 X 40) and up to 10 smaller paintings (16 X 20 or smaller) and handcrafted items. Since this is advertised as a SALE, please mark SALE prices on items along with your participating artist number. Special art and/or craft demonstrations are encouraged during the sale. All members’ unsold artwork may be picked up on the last sale day, Sunday, Dec. 13 from 4:00–5:00 p.m. or Monday, December 14, from 10:00 a.m.– 12:00 Noon, or by special arrangement. Remember, the F.A.A. receives no commission from sales. This is quite a benefit to all participating members. A sign-up sheet for Gallery sitting, decorating the Gallery, art & craft demonstrations, and goodie donations will be passed around at the November meeting. Please sign up to help! Holiday Art Sale flyers and press releases will be available at the November meeting for members to display, give, and send. Inventory sheets will also be included with the November newsletter. The big SALE will be publicized in area newspapers and there will be A-frame signs around town. HOWEVER, the more that we all publicize it, the better the sales will be! Let’s have a great show and make lots of sales!
