MARCH 2010 NEWSLETTER

Dear Members and Patrons of the Arts:

If you fellow artists are like me, you have been taking advantage of being snowed in to do a little more creative painting! It surely has not been fit for man or beast to be outside, and that's for certain. I'm writing this note in mid-February, and according to some of the TV weather forecasters, the amount of snowfall this month could break all records since statistics have been kept for the past 100 years. But we are not going to let a little snow keep us from our artistic endeavors, are we? Surely the sun will shine on the first Tuesday of March so that all of you can make it to our meeting on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. The meeting proper will start at 7:00 pm as usual, with a board meeting at 6:00 pm. Come join us won't you, and bring a friend!

MARCH 2010 SPEAKER—CLARICE MOORE
Fine artist, writer, and illustrator, Clarice Moore, has been around the art community for some time now, selling and exhibiting since the age of 16, but has never had more enjoyment than in recent years. A native Daytonian, she moved to Fairborn 20 some odd years ago to wed and raise a family—but now that they are grown has found more time to pursue her life-long passion—her artwork. Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, and the Schuster Center are among the long roster of exhibition sites over the years, but more recently the artist is enjoying another aspect of her career. Since writing, illustrating, and self publishing her first children's book, Dilly the Violin, she has been marketing in many area libraries, introducing young children to the violin family by treating them to hands-on demonstrations, musical performances, and book readings and signings. She is an accomplished violin artist and teacher. Area libraries have asked her back to teach workshops on creative drawing, illustration, and self-publishing. Clarice also enjoys traveling around to various shows and festivals exhibiting, selling, and doing "quickie" portraits. Upcoming goals include marketing her book on-line and building a website. She is currently a member of the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators. Clarice Moore is a multi-faceted and gifted fine artist whose other interests include oils, soft pastels, drawing, writing and portraiture. She will give us an over-view on how to write and illustrate a book. She will explain self-publishing and many cost efficient ways to create your own book on any topic. Learn lots of tricks for doing illustrations, writing, self publishing and marketing your own book.

GALLERY SHOW
Two local artists are teaming up for a show in April. Patty Tateman and Gayle Beireis will be having an art show in our Gallery. Patty is a wonderful watercolorist and has been painting since her days at Julienne High School. She also does oils, acrylics, pastels, and pen & inks. Gayle has been painting as far back as she can remember and is now doing watercolors and colored pencils.

We need talented artists to fill our nice gallery with beautiful works of art. There are still some openings at the gallery for you to use to have an art show, a place to display your many works of art. July, September, and November of 2010 are still open. Remember, this is at no cost to you, so just get a friend and have fun. Let me tell you how! Contact Gayle Beireis at 937-390-1992 or 937-207-9046.
