 Dear Members, Patrons, and Friends,

It was a pleasure being your president for this past year. Everyone was so very helpful.

Remember that it is not how you paint or who you paint or what you paint but the fact that you take time to paint what you see through your eyes.

See you at our next meeting on June 5 for our June Social, and remember that everyone is to bring food. We will have a busy and fun meeting, then we break until September. Have a good summer.

Loren Red

President

MEETING JUNE 5, 2018—SOCIAL

Get ready to party–lots of food and fun. Also, lots of last minute business. Outgoing President Loren Red will be making a small announcement. We will present three scholarships to students this year due to contributions and fund matching by FAA. Scholarship winners are Lauren Conroy from Archbishop Alter High, Juno Shemano from Yellow Springs High, and Katie Ferguson from Springfield Clark CTC. We will have installation of our new Board members, introduction of the King and Queen of the Sweet Corn Festival, and voting and awards for the Popular Choice selections of the paintings on display in the Gallery. Please bring a covered dish, snack, or dessert for the group to enjoy.

POPULAR CHOICE AWARDS—You be the Judge!

Each member may bring one or two paintings or other artwork to the June meeting for the Popular Choice Judging. Registration will be from 6 to 7 pm. As members arrive, each piece of artwork will be given a number. At break time, everyone present may vote for his/her favorite three pieces of artwork. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded for the artwork receiving the most votes. Awards to be given for First Place – $50, Second Place – $40, Third Place – $30, Six Honorable Mention Awards at $20 and Six Merit Awards at $10. You must be present to win a Popular Choice award. Please take your artwork home with you after the meeting; there will be a show in the gallery in July and classes as well.

FAIRBORN STREET REPAIRS

The City of Fairborn has notified us that they will be working on curbs and gutters on Central Street beginning NOW and ending approximately June 15. This will affect our access to the parking lots at the Gallery. There is a great possibility that they will be replacing the badly deteriorating curb on the right side of the Senior Apartments building, which also houses our Gallery. The entrance to parking on the left side of the building may also require repair/replacement. They said they will try to leave one entrance open for the use of residents, including our members/guests. This may affect our use of the Gallery on our Paint In days, our June meeting, and on the Sundays the Gallery is open for the Spring Members’ Show. We may have to park on the side streets. Parking is available in the City parking lot at nights and on weekend days.
