MARCH 2014 NEWSLETTER

Early Spring Greetings to all our Snowed-In Members and Patrons,

It is so wonderful that as I write this letter, the prediction is for warmer weather and Spring is on the way!! So with that good news, I am sure you will want to come to our March 4th Meeting to welcome our fellow artist Leonard Williams who will treat us to his method of painting those award-winning creations.

We have a lot to catch up on since we have had this extended break. Hope our Greene County Senior members have prepared to enter the March Annual Show with GCCOA in our galley. It is always amazing and full of creativity. It’s great to be an artist – we never have to retire!

So make sure you turn your calendar to March and plan on coming to our meeting March 4th, with our board meeting at 6:00, sign-in and fellowship at 6:30, meeting at 7:00, and demonstration following.

 MARCH SPEAKER—LEONARD WILLIAMS

Dayton native Leonard Williams will talk and demo in watercolor or casein using some of the 2500 photos and 30 small watercolor sketches that were produced during his month long trip in Yellowstone and Teton National Parks in September 2013. Leonard is best known for his vibrant watercolor scenes.  He concentrates on the realistic depiction of nature and landscape vignettes. His paintings invite the viewer to become a part of the setting. He grew up with a love of nature, a deep concern for the earth and a passion for the American west. He draws his inspiration from the infinite world of nature–its land and seas, its animals, and its people. Leonard spent 25 years as a firefighter for the city of Dayton and over 35 years as a sign painter. Drawing since childhood and primarily a self-taught artist. he has refined his natural talents by attending workshops given by many nationally known artists and by studying at the yearly Pro-Art Workshop in Big Timber, Montana, for more than 11 years. Now retired he concentrates full time on his painting. He was a founding member of the Town and Country Fine Art Gallery and teaches watercolor at Rosewood Art Center in Kettering.
