Barbara Allen
Barbara was a Graphic Artist at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 16 years and retired Dec 1999. She went right back in Oct of 2000 and for 9 years has been a General Dynamics contractor still working at W.P.A.F.B., now as a Senior Illustrator in the Sensors and Radar Division.
In May of 1979 she painted a mural in Chapel II. It is 12 feet x 6 feet on a balcony and took 60 hours to complete.
She does hand built sculptures of men and children called “Just Plain Folks”, has rebuilt antique statues including a 5ft statue that vandals had ruined. The statue belonged to sisters at a Kentucky hospital and is of Mary and baby Jesus. The artists logo consists of 3 pine trees in a row. They denote Strength, and Dependability. The center tree is taller to represent the three crosses of Calvary.
She designed the first logo of Huber Heights and a watercolor composite of the major buildings to represent the newly incorporated city. As a freelance artist she has done cartooning, calligraphy, and china painting.
She is now retired and remarried in 2011. Always remember, “ART is everywhere, SMILE and enjoy it…”
