David Yarnall is our Artist of the Month for October 2016. His paintings are now in our Gallery and can be viewed at our October meeting. David’s watercolor paintings are mostly landscapes, some realistic, some impressionistic, and some abstract. David has a good background in art and art training. Let him tell you about it.
I was first inspired to paint by a family friend at an early age, watching him paint with watercolor. Started painting using watercolor, charcoal, pencil, and pastels, worked with oils in college. My work now is in watercolor with some pen and ink.
I received my formal graphic design and photographic education at The Collage of the Dayton Art Institute, Dayton, Ohio, Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, Art Instruction Inc., and have studied with Sterling Edwards, Andy Evensen, Frank Webb, Frank Francese, Mizuk Goltz. I am a member of The Western Ohio Watercolor Society (WOWS), Fairborn Art Association (FAA). My work has been exhibited by The Mac Worthington Gallery in Columbus, Ohio, The Art Museum of Springfield, Ohio, The Gallery Hotel, Tipp City, Ohio, Studio14, Tipp City, Ohio, Frame Haven, Springfield, Ohio.
I paint mostly landscapes in a blend of traditional and impressionistic styles, and some abstract. Commissions are accepted including portraiture. I can use photographs as primary source, or I can set up a photo shoot. Maximum portrait size is 11 x 15 and each piece is priced individually.
