Dear Members, Patrons and Friends,
Fall is definitely here. We are finished with camping for now, so that means more time to paint. We can all gear up for the Members’ Christmas Sale in December. It will be here before we know it. We will once again have an exciting speaker at our November meeting, so bring a friend, enjoy great food, and a fabulous program. Come a bit early and socialize with other artists. The meeting begins promptly at 7 pm. Hope to see you there.
Sandy Kinnamon, AWS President
SPEAKER FOR NOVEMBER—BONNIE KUNTZ
Bonnie Kuntz will be our award winning, demonstrating artist for November 4. Bonnie’s work is in several galleries including The Fine Art Center at Cross Point in Centerville (formerly at Town & Country in Kettering). She has exhibited in many watercolor shows and has taught classes and workshops throughout the region. Bonnie will show us her technique for using wax resist with her watercolors. Join us and enjoy. Bonnie said she was fortunate to win many awards over the years including first place at the Western Ohio Watercolor Society in 2010 and 2011. She has had paintings included in five Ohio Watercolor Society exhibits, including three of the traveling exhibits in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
IN THE GALLERY
Larry Hawkins, Gayle Beireis, and Robert Beireis will have their artwork on display in the Gallery during November. Larry is an art instructor who works in watercolor, glass beads, and photography. Gayle has worked in watercolor, pottery, mosaic, color pencil, pen & ink, and currently in pointillism. Robert is a photographer, taught by Gayle. She often works from photos that Robert has taken.
DECEMBER HOLIDAY PARTY
Plan to attend our December 2nd meeting. It is our annual Holiday Party. Everyone is invited and bring a guest if you want. Bring a covered dish and a gift for our drawing game. Come early and enjoy looking and shopping at the Members Holiday Fine Art and Craft Sale. The party will start at 7 pm.
MEMBERS HOLIDAY FINE ART & CRAFT SALE
Fairborn Art Association members will again have the opportunity to have their artwork and handicrafts displayed in the Gallery for sale the first two weekends in December and for early shopping from 5:30–7:00 pm before the Christmas party, which begins at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 2. The Holiday Fine Art & Craft Sale will be open on two successive weekends, December 6 & 7 and December 13 & 14. The Gallery will be open on Saturdays from 10 am–4 pm and Sundays from 1–4 pm. We plan to set up the art racks and decorate the Holiday Gallery with members’ help on Monday morning, December 1 from 9:00 am–noon. Please sign up to help decorate and arrange the room. Members can bring in their priced Holiday arts and crafts with inventory sheets that same afternoon from 1–3 pm and again Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon. Each participating member artist will be assigned a number (as we did last year) which must be included on each price tag. Each member may bring two large paintings (18 X 24 or larger, up to 30 X 40) and up to 10 smaller paintings (16 X 20 or smaller) and handcrafted items. Since this is advertised as a SALE, please mark SALE prices on items along with your name and participating artist number (same as last year). Special art and/or craft demonstrations are encouraged during the sale. All members’ unsold artwork may be picked up on the last sale day, Sunday, Dec. 14 from 4–5 pm or Monday, December 15 from 10–12 noon. Remember, the F.A.A. receives no commission from sales. This is quite a benefit to all participating members. A sign-up sheet for Gallery sitting, decorating the Gallery, art & craft demonstrations and goodie donations will be passed around at the October and November meetings. PLEASE SIGN UP TO HELP! The big SALE will be publicized in area newspapers and there will be A-frame signs around town. HOWEVER, the more that we all publicize the HOLIDAY SALE, the better the sales will be! Let’s have a great Gallery show and make lots of sales! Inventory sheets are attached to this newsletter and will be available on our website so you can get started on your lists. Please call Gayle & Robert Beireis, 937-390-1992 for additional information.
