Our September meeting was highlighted by a very informative demo by FAA member Tom Kinarney. Tom is, in our eyes and those of countless others, an expert in the art of colored pencil/pen and ink. Tom first showed us various books and magazines on “how to” with beautiful finished artwork. He finished with a demo of an apple and how he applies the colored pencil to achieve the various colored areas of the apple and the shadows and highlights. In picture four, Tom demonstrated how one pencil could make a very soft (light) stroke or a very dark (heavy) stroke by using pressure. His touch allows for multiple layers to accumulate. His apple looks good enough to eat.
