PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hello Fellow Artists!
Where in the world did the summer go? How can school be starting again? I feel like I just started wearing shorts and flip flops! I didn’t have a real vacation, as such, but I did attend a family reunion in July, in Latrobe, Pa., home of Arnold Palmer, Mr. Rogers, Rolling Rock beer, Pittsburgh Steelers summer camp, and the first banana split! (see, you didn’t know you were going to get a history and geography lesson, did you?) I hope you all had a fabulous summer with lots of fun and travels!
The 2025 Sweet Corn Festival is history, and I am sorry to report that I was unable to attend this year, but I hear everyone worked very hard, despite the heat. I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered and especially the chairpersons of the various committees. This is a HUGE undertaking involving many hours of planning, phone calls, meetings, etc., and I am grateful for each and every one of you!
I look forward to our meeting on Tuesday, September 2, at 7:00 pm, with our guest demo artist Sharon Stolzenberger. Don’t forget we will have tables available if you want to sell any art supplies you aren’t using anymore.
Take care and keep creating!
Linda Brandenburg, President

FAA GALLERY EXHIBIT IN SEPTEMBER
FAA member Dr. Hyacinth Paul will be exhibiting her artwork at the Fairborn Art Association Gallery during the month of September 2025.
“In every heart lies a quiet artist waiting to be awakened—a spirit that sees beauty in chaos, meaning in color, and emotion in texture. Brushstrokes of Joy: Celebrating the Artist Within is a call to honor that creative spark, whether it emerges through painting, dance, music, writing, or simply how we live each day. This celebration is not just about technique or training, but about expression—raw, real, and joyful.
Too often, creativity is boxed in, judged, or silenced by comparison. But joy is found in the freedom of the brushstroke, the courage of the first note, the vulnerability of the blank canvas. To celebrate the artist within is to reclaim that freedom—to say yes to messy palettes, imperfect attempts, and the deep satisfaction of making something your own.
This is an invitation to create without apology. To share, explore, and reconnect with your inner maker. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or haven’t picked up a crayon since childhood, your creativity matters. Let each stroke, scribble, or spark be a reminder: joy doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from presence, play, and passion. Paint your world. Celebrate yourself. The masterpiece is already within.”

ART SUPPLIES SALE
Our Art Supplies Sale will be held on September 2 from 5:30–6:30 pm (simultaneously with our board meeting). Prior registration is not required. If you have art supplies that you wish to sell, you may bring them to the FAA Gallery for set up between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. The doors will be open and a table will be provided. If weather permits, some tables may be set up outside. Set up and all sales transactions are your responsibility so make sure you bring enough money to make change. Final cleanup of all items is also yours to do; nothing is to be left in the gallery or outside.
FAA will also offer gently used art supplies for which donations would be appreciated. These donations will go toward a People’s Choice award at the next FAA Members’ Show in honor of our past member, Maria Lambalot.

Artist’s Statement: “I love the qualities of watercolor – its fluid nature. To me, the interaction of artist with the medium is like a dance – full of motion, feeling and expression. I love to watch the painting develop and to discover new color and composition. As a teacher, I would like to enable students to find their connections with watercolor in a new and expressive way.”
