A THANK YOU NOTE FROM PAULA WHITTINGTON
The Fairborn 75th Anniversary Virtual Art Show and Raffle is coming up on July 4th from 10:00 am–2:00 pm at SPARK. Thank you to all the participants! There is an impressive variety of beautiful work to enjoy! With skillful help from Julie Shuman, Carol Collett and Linda Brandenburg, we hung art at SPARK and are ready to go. In addition to the art slideshow, historical photos will play on the second TV screen at Spark. Twenty-nine prints now hang on the Spark gallery walls, and the prints will again be displayed and for sale in the Sweet Corn Festival information tent. The Board has been very encouraging and flexible as we designed a new platform to display our art and promote the FAA. Extra recognition goes to Peggy Bowman, who donated gorgeous greeting cards to raise donations for the Phoenix Theater, and Jim and Connie Gifford, for publicity. Last but not least, please applaud April Coppess, who will facilitate purchase inquiries, and who created a spot (now showing!) on the FAA web page. If you can’t come to the show, please view it VIRTUALLY! Enjoy the fireworks, and I hope to see you at the Corn Fest!
FAA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS FOR 2025
The Fairborn Art Association (FAA), 221 N. Central Ave. in Fairborn, awarded three outstanding high school graduates with a $1,000 art scholarship each. Letters were mailed to high school art teachers and guidance counselors in the Greene, Montgomery, Clark, and Miami County areas requesting that graduating seniors, who are going to pursue higher education in the fine arts or related discipline, submit digital copies of artwork for review. A committee of FAA members, comprising artists with many awards and years of experience, reviewed every entry. Of the many outstanding entries, three students were selected to receive a scholarship check.
