Cathy Jones of the Maple Avenue Church of God in Fairborn, Ohio received a check in the amount of $1500 from proceeds of the Soup and Art Show held on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Ms. Jones received the check on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Ms. Jones is the founder of the Church of God's Backpack program, which feeds children in the Fairborn area who may otherwise go without food. The Backpack program feeds up to 100 children at its weekly food program, and also sends food home in backpacks so the children in need will have additional food. The Soup and Art Show was able to raise the money through proceeds of the sale of donated bowls, tee shirts, donated art work, and corporate funds. Organizers Clarice Moore, Mayumi Keifer, Steve Keifer, and Dora Lawson hope to hold future events in order to continue support for the Backpack program. Photo by Dora Lawson.
