Happy New Year to All,

It gives me great pleasure to think about getting back soon to our monthly meetings after the busyness of the Holidays. I hope you all had a safe and wonderful time. Our Christmas gift boutique was filled with amazing creativity and very generous volunteers who make it two wonderful weekends in December. Thanks to all who participated.

I am aware that not all of us sailed through the Holidays without a struggle with health problems and I pray that you have had lots of hibernating time along with love and support during these winter months. You have been in our thoughts and prayers during this time. If some of you are feeling better and can come to our February meeting, but may need a ride, please do not hesitate to contact someone for help. Our Meeting starts the New Year on Tuesday, February 5th, 6:30 arrival, socializing, short business meeting at seven, yummy snacks and then begin with a very exciting demo by Mayumi Kiefer. With that intriguing name, I can hardly wait to meet our presenter! So come along, bring a friend or two and start 2013 with us.

Sue Brezine

Mayumi will demonstrate the eleven main steps to creating 3-dimensional tile installation, including: rolling slab, cutting tiles, preparing and transferring the image, carving, glazing, firing and mounting the piece. As part of the demonstration she will exhibit one portion of a finished installation that was part of her capstone project at Ohio Northern University, where she earned her BFA.

Happy New Year! We would like to thank everyone who helped with the Holiday Fine Art & Craft Sale. It was a very successful show. We are looking forward to the 2013 Spring Member’s Fine Art Show. We will be sending out the prospectus for the Member’s show in March & April. Please read the prospectus carefully, as some changes have been made concerning the entries. Also, remember that the Member’s Photography Show will be in October, and not in June. So, everyone should be painting, drawing, and clicking away! (Submitted by gayle & Robert Beireis)
