Dear Members and Patrons,

Boy, spring is speeding right by or so it seems. After a long cold winter we deserve a nice spring. It’s time to get out of the house and get a great start on painting. The Frank Francese workshop is very soon. He is an amazing painter and it would be a great chance to learn something new. I know each of you will enjoy the May Meeting as  he will start and finish a full sheet watercolor. Hope to see you at the meeting. Our next meeting will be May 5, 2015, at 7 pm. The Board will meet at 6 pm.

Sandy Kinnamon, AWS

Frank Francese, who is conducting our May Workshop, will be our featured speaker for our May 2015 meeting. Frank is a landscape artist who uses brilliant color and eye-catching composition in his watercolors. Frank is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society as well as Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Master Status. He has won enumerable awards for his artwork, both here and abroad. Frank recently had a painting accepted by the American Watercolor Society for a landscape he painted during a trip to Guatemala to teach children. We hope he will tell us about that trip.

You must be a paid member of the Fairborn Art Association to be eligible to enter this Show. A non-member may enter the show by paying dues for the coming year (2015/2016) plus the prorated amounts for the months of April and May 2015. (See article in this newsletter “Membership Dues.”) Registration for the 2015 Members’ Spring Fine Art Show will be Monday, April 27 from 9 am to 12 noon and from 1 to 3 pm; and on Wednesday, April 29  from 10 am to 12 noon. The Show will be open to the public Sundays, May 3, 10, and 17, from 1 to 4 pm. Please have your sales information, entry forms, and fees ready when you come for registration. The awards will be  given at the May meeting; best of luck to all of you. To those of you who have volunteered to help set up and sit in the gallery, I thank you and will see you there. But we still need some help — We need someone to bring snacks for all three Sundays. We need volunteers to sit in the Gallery on Sunday, May 17 from 1 to 5 pm for the show and pickup of artwork; and on Monday, May 18 from 10 am to 12 noon for pickup of artwork. The Prospectus for the Show (which includes the entry forms) is available in the gallery, on the FAA website, in this newsletter, or from gayle at 937-390-1992 or [email protected].
