Happy Fall, Y’All!

Can you believe summer is over and autumn has arrived? It will take me a while to reprogram my thoughts from flip flops, cutoffs, and t-shirts to jeans, sweaters, socks, and shoes, but I am looking forward to bonfires, apple crisp, fall foliage, and pumpkin spice (although I hear the jury is still out on it)!  It’s also a time for festivals, craft shows and bazaars so I hope you get out and enjoy the foods, sights and sounds of the season.

Speaking of festivals, our Sweet Corn Festival was quite exciting with all the storms and even a tornado warning but we “weathered” through all the difficulties and still made a decent profit. I’d like to thank, once again, all those in charge who worked SO hard to make this undertaking a reality and all the volunteers who worked the watermelon booth, the vendor’s booth, the information booth and of course, those who worked Thursday setting up the field for the vendor’s spaces. I saw a lot of smiling faces and heard no grumbling which, in my book, is a plus! Our chairman, Warren Brown, once again did an excellent job coordinating this event, putting out fires, and keeping things running on an even keel. The storms made things a bit tricky but Warren handled everything beautifully. A HUGE THANK YOU to you, Warren, and all you do!!!

We still need someone to step into Warren’s shoes to chair the Sweet Corn Festival. He is more than happy to take them under his wing and train them in the who, what, when, and where’s of this event. Please consider helping our organization with this major money maker for the FAA.

I would like to thank Jane Trame on behalf of the FAA for purchasing and donating the beautiful watermelon watercolor painted by Carol Teilhet, who was a long-time member of our organization. She was such a gifted artist who touched many lives with her loving spirit and this painting will be a special reminder of her amazing talent.

A reminder that we have paint-ins at our gallery on Thursday mornings beginning at 9:00 am, Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm, and Fridays at 10:00 am. The Thursday morning group focuses on watercolor and the other groups are all mediums. Feel free to join us!

I want to give everyone plenty of notice that this year’s Christmas party has been moved to SATURDAY, December 10 from 3:00–5:00 pm. I know I mentioned December 3 at the last meeting but, due to scheduling difficulties, it will now be December 10. The food will be catered. We will be taking reservations again through Debbie Cosenza and will keep you posted on deadlines. Please mark your calendars for this fun party!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:00 pm with Nancy Neville as our guest demo artist. See you there and keep creating!
